FAQ’s
How do you select your caregivers?
All of our caregivers are thoroughly interviewed and their references and past employees are reviewed. We do a criminal background check as well as a motor vehicle check and social security check. Each caregiver is insured and bonded.
Can I have input in picking a caregiver for my loved one; and can I meet them in advance?
Yes, we try to match up the caregiver whose personality would be suitable for the client. An example would be talkative, quiet, outgoing, old, young, etc. Yes, it is essential that you meet the caregiver prior to starting the care.
Are your services available in nursing homes or other facilities?
Yes, it is becoming more popular to have our services in assisted living facilities as well as nursing homes to keep your loved ones company, and to make sure that the family’s questions and concerns are being answered at these facilities. (We act as the eyes and ears of the family.
What happens if a caregiver does not make it to work due to sickness, etc.?
We are immediately on the phone calling people for a substitute. We will get a substitute there as soon as possible. We are usually successful since we have caregivers who are designated as substitutes.
How do you get paid?
Supreme Companions bills the client or the client’s family weekly since we pay our caregivers every week. We also pay all the workers compensation, insurances, social security, payroll taxes, etc.
What are your rates and minimum hours of service?
We will work anywhere from 6 hours a day to 24 hours a day.
Why should I use Supreme Companions instead of someone in the newspapers or Craigslist?
Yes, you can. However, be aware that this formula creates certain responsibilities, liabilities, and risks for you. In order to protect yourself you should complete a criminal background check and verify driving records. You would also have to obtain insurance for general liability, bonding, and workman’s comp. Further, you would have to pay the required federal, state and local taxes for your caregiver since he or she is considered your employee. A home care agency such as Supreme Companions does all these things for you.
Is Supreme Companions a house cleaning service or maid service?
No, however, we will do light housekeeping for you or your loved ones, for example, doing your laundry (client only), vacuum, dishes, make beds, cook meals and more.
